The Cliff Has Good Lighting
Nobody shoved you. You tapped yes. The feed is friendly, the tools are helpful, and the floor is already gone. That is the walk into the abyss: courtesy, not chaos.

People want the abyss to look like fire. Fire would be fair. You would run.
This abyss looks like a product tour. Soft colors. A checkbox. You feel productive. You feel modern. You feel like you are keeping up.
Keeping up with what? A thinning of the need for you.
Comfort is the camouflage
You did not vote for a world where juniors cannot get hired, where every sentence might be fake, where your kid's "career" is a vibe and a side hustle. You voted for convenience, a hundred times a day, in taps.
That is the sleepwalk. Not ignorance. Sedation.
The model writes the first draft. You stop having a first draft of your own. Then you cannot tell if the thought was yours. Then you do not care, because the meeting still happens and the salary still lands.
Until it does not.
Dignity is not a luxury feature
Strip enough paid usefulness out of a population and you do not get a leisure class. You get rage with better phones. We have already watched this in places that lost a mill and were told to reinvent. Reinvention is a talk. Tuesday is a bottle.
Now the mill is an office. The office class is still sure it is special. That certainty is the last nice lighting on the cliff.
Wake up while it is boring
Boring is a gift. Boring means you still have a login, a network, a chance to get closer to work that needs a human body or a human promise.
Practice without the net on purpose. Talk to a person before you paste them. Learn one hard thing the model is mediocre at in your field. Tell the truth to someone younger than you about the ladder you climbed. It is missing rungs. Stop selling the brochure.
If you need a villain, fine. The villain is the part of you that wants the demo to be the future so you do not have to change.
The abyss does not grab. It waits. It has excellent UX. You already know how to use it.

The Takeover Already Filed a Ticket
There is no robot king. There is a closed ticket, a "deflected" customer, and a dashboard that calls that a win. That is the takeover. It has a severity tag.

The danger is not that people believe AI is magic. The danger is that people keep tapping Accept on a future they have not actually chosen, because the interface is friendly and the bill arrives later.

Forget the uprising. The takeover is a procurement process: a vendor demo, a pilot that "exceeds expectations," and a reorg that treats people as the lagging indicator.
